Nicole Davis, Psy.D.

 

Postdoctoral Fellow for EBT Los Angeles

Dr. Nicole Davis is a post-doctoral fellow working under the supervision of Dr. Marget Thomas. Dr. Davis earned her Psy.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology in Los Angeles, CA. In her graduate career, Dr. Davis has been passionate about utilizing compassion-based mindfulness interventions and psychological skills training to address reducing implicit bias within high stress populations. Throughout her graduate studies, Dr. Davis has received intensive clinical training in DBT and CBT, utilizing these approaches to address a wide array of clinical presentations.

Prior to graduate school, Dr. Davis completed her B.A. in Political Science at the University of Southern California, where she was on scholarship as a student- athlete. Dr. Davis completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at California State University at Fullerton (CSUF). While at CSUF, Dr. Davis’s clinical training centered on the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders, relationship issues, and crisis intervention, in addition to the provision of peer supervision, group therapy and outreach services to the greater campus community. During her training at CSUF, she received specialized training working with The Dreamers Resource Center and the University’s undocumented student population.

In addition to DBT, Dr. Davis utilizes cognitive behavioral therapies for specific problems (e.g., borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, OCD, panic and trauma-related disorders), as well as third-wave, mindfulness-based CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help individuals align their thoughts, words and actions with their core values to live more connected and purpose-driven lives. Dr. Davis regularly presents to schools and community organizations, athletic programs and teams on mental health and related issues, as she is passionate about reducing stigma and increasing proactive measures to address mental health and well-being.

Dr. Davis sees adolescents and adults for individual psychotherapy, provides couples therapy, and teaches DBT skills group. She is an LGBTQ affirming therapist with a deep regard for diversity considerations. Her favorite part of her work is helping others find joy in the process of becoming their best selves.
